Provisional Improvement Notice (PIN) is an enforceable directive issued under workplace safety legislation which requires an individual or organisation (duty holder) to remedy or prevent a contravention of workplace safety legislation. A PIN can be issued by the state workplace safety regulator such as Worksafe, commonwealth regulator and health and safety representatives elected under workplace safety legislation.
Why are PINs issued?
A Provisional Improvement Notice is typically issued due to a failure in risk management or the safety issue resolution process. Provisional Improvement Notices can be damaging to the reputation of the workplace.
